Simple task to check functional health
This post is for the middle aged and anyone else wanting to know how age
and lifestyle impacts your body. There is a simple task you can
perform to assess basic physical function: From a standing position, get
down on the floor and then back up again (to standing). This is
surprisingly comprehensive and picks up any small or large muscle
weakness; especially spinal range of motion and stability. There is no
reason, aside from longstanding inactivity or injury, for any body to
struggle with this and yet many adults will begin struggling from quite a
young age. An excellent reality check!
